ii. bump in the night

[You've ACTED every way you can think of, tried to SPARE as many as you could, but, in the end, you've learned there's only one way out of this. You do your best to FIGHT, clutching your locket close when you manage to dodge and holding your knife with shaking hands, but every time it's never enough. There's just too many of them, and no matter how often you try to FLEE they always manage to catch up to you. But you're still filled with DETERMINATION and even as a creature is running at you, claws outstretched, and you brace yourself for the inevitable, you know that somehow you'll find a way out of this.]

iv/i. not all who wander are lost/welcome home

[Knowing that one day you might find something in the rubble that leads you home fills you with Determination.

You've been rummaging around for a while now, going from building to building and seeing what you can find. There's a lot of neat stuff, and you find yourself disappointed that you can't fit everything you want to pick up in your pockets. But then you remember you have something better than a conveniently placed box; you have a bedroom.

It takes a lot of time to go from the burned buildings to your temporary home and back, but you make the trip several times. If anyone were to come across you outside, they'd find you on your knees, pushing through the rubble, trying not to let your hands shake from the amount of ash they're covered in. And if they happen to come across you at the strange little house you now call "home", you're either dropping off miscellaneous junk in your room or using a chair to stand on so you can vigorously wash your hands in the sink, making sure there's absolutely no dust on them before you go back out.]
