Test Drive Meme #2
Threads may be considered game canon if both parties are accepted and agree to it. You do not need special permission for this. In addition, should you find yourselves agreeable to a roommate situation threaded on the test drive, you may request the desired housing HERE and it will likely be honored.
~ Comment to this post with your character's name and canon in the subject line ~
~ Choose from your favorite scenarios and have at it ~
~ Tag around, and have fun ~
So you've made it home without being maimed, mauled, or otherwise lost! Isn't that lovely? You've scoped out your room and everything seems to be in some strange kind of order. There's a distinctly lived in sort of feel about the whole of the house with every basic amenity afforded it, but what's this? What's that? What are these other doors beyond the usual staples of a living room, bathrooms, and the like? What, you didn't think you lived all by yourself, did you? Say "hi" to your roommate! Or perhaps they're just more family that you've forgotten you had?
ii. BUMP IN THE NIGHT
For whatever reason, you find yourself too far from home to return safely before nightfall, which leaves you with two options. You can either brave the vicious creatures that rise from the swamp when the sun sets or try in vain to hide in one of the rundown buildings scattered throughout the town. There are no locks and no more than a few panes of glass or wood between you and that which roams the streets. Or perhaps, by chance, you've lucked out and are close enough to the Library to seek shelter. For even if you are being chased, the moment any creature steps within a few feet of its walls, they burst into flames and die. How fortunate for you! Now, please mind your manners. You wouldn't want to activate the protections of the location and find yourself out on your butt with the monsters, would you?
iii. MIRROR MIRROR
It's a flickering icon that catches your attention in the centermost piece of the smooth surface that appears as some strange sort of screen. Touch it and the surface of the mirror ripples and reveals what appears to be some sort of interactive message board that appears to be going so strong. Perhaps you aren't so alone after all. Will you reach out through a post to the network?
iv. NOT ALL WHO WANDER ARE LOST
The sun has finally risen and you know what that means! Time to go exploring! With eighty percent of the town burned down or otherwise uninhabitable, there are lots of places to go wandering in search of answers and items. Too bad you're more likely to find a bunch of junk and more questions than answers, but you know what they say: "One man's trash is another man's treasure." From suspiciously human bones to broken old appliances to priceless jewelry and everything in between, if it's something someone would have in a house or shop, there's a good chance you can find it charred and-or buried somewhere around town.
Why don't you take a look around?
v. WILD CARD
Alternatively, feel free to choose your own adventure and do something else within the setting!

Those could come in hand. [ HE GUESSES. ] The meds have probably been here a long time. [ Like, a few decades at least, judging from the general taste in design around here. ]
[ The way Noel says it, it's like that building in particular has some kind of tactical advantage over the countless walls with roofs they already have, but he supposes he'll see for himself soon enough. ]
Is there something like a map for this place anywhere?
[ There could be other objects of interest around. ]
no subject
Nobody's bothered with maps or anything like that--we've all just been familiarizing ourselves with the place independently, like you and me.
[Be honest, Squalo. Even if you made a map for your own personal use, would you actually care enough about anyone else here to share it, except maybe with other Varia members?]

So did someone just stumble upon that hospital?
[ The place is just a tad too big to spot anything interesting by simply looking around. Maybe if he found higher ground... ]

sooo mind if we make this game canon?
[ And really fucking suspicious. ]
Do they provide any incentives for doing those tasks?
Sure~ /pops Squalo into present bag and carriers off
[Have an aggravated sigh.]
It'd be nice to be able to tell where the houses are in all this rubble. I'm sure at least a few people kept diaries or journals; that seems like the only way we'll actually get any answers or context.

[ Well. Couldn't hurt to look at this "task board", at any rate. ]
Most of it are probably houses. Maybe there was a church or something. [ Old-fashioned, medium-sized towns tended to love those. And there's just something hilarious about reading someone else's diaries. ] I'll let you know if I find one.
Anything you'd like me to hit up your new open log with?
[He actually does smile at that. There have been plenty of houses and plenty of shops around here, but the sad fact remains that he hasn't been able to find anything like diaries or letters or any other sort of personal correspondence or memoirs. He can't believe all of it got destroyed, that seemed far too deliberate for whatever kind of hell had descended over the town.]
There might be a destroyed church somewhere in all this mess, but I know there's a cathedral still standing, over near the houses everyone is using. I cleaned that one up myself.
[It took a long ass time to do mostly by himself, too, because most people seemed to like watching and hounding him more than actually trying to help, ugh. It actually looks quite respectable now though, if he does say so himself.]
It looked like people tried to make some sort of last stand in there and got massacred. I got rid of the broken furniture and cleaned up the gore and everything, but there are some pretty deep claw marks that're there to stay.
Well the first one wouldn't make sense if they meet here, but anything else is free grabs :D
[ And Squalo is certain he was never in this place before, but hypothetically, if the welcome message had anything going for it - he knew he wouldn't have kept a diary. ]
Ah. One's probably enough, then. [ Still, it's not impossible that the rubble wasn't just another part of the housing district. ] Were any bodies still intact?
Re: Well the first one wouldn't make sense if they meet here, but anything else is free grabs :D
No. There weren't even any bones. It's like they were eaten whole, or dragged out by force. Maybe whatever did it doesn't like holy symbols or something.

[ Squalo had never been religious, which is probably evident from his tone, but there was no way you could live in Italy and not get subjected to some of it. Not to mention that respectable mafia families tended to attend the big masses for seasonal holidays, like the pillars of community that they supposedly were. ]

It'd be nice, huh? Hopefully genuine belief doesn't factor it.
Maybe let's work on wrapping this up since it's heading in the same thematic as the other thread

.....But you know, there weren't any bodies in the hospital that I could find, either. Not even in the morgue.
no subject
[ That's... interesting. ]
Were there any bodies beside that initial murderscene you witnessed? And are those still there?
